A native of Florida, Lisa traded one sunshine state for another when she moved to Arizona after attending Hillsdale College (Michigan) and BYU where she earned her BA and MA degrees in Political Science. She has worked as a legislative analyst for the Arizona House of Representatives and been active in the community, volunteering at Phoenix Children’s Hospital, on local education boards, and in her children’s schools. She is a Master Docent at Phoenix Art Museum where she has served on their governing board for the past decade, President 2011-2012, and Docent of the Year 2014-2015. She is currently serving her third term as a governor-appointed member of the Arizona Commission on the Arts.
Lisa created a 2-year arts curriculum program specifically for the John Volken Academy students. ARTFULLIFE combines the visual arts and literary arts as a means to better understand and appreciate life’s challenges and blessings. The program consists of both classroom presentations and museum visits.
Lisa and her husband Stan have five children and live in the East Valley. Stan is a former State Representative and Senator whose consulting firm keeps him active in AZ politics and a popular media commentator. When describing Stan’s career in politics and her involvement with the arts, Lisa often quotes John Adams: “I must study politics and war, that my sons may have the liberty to study mathematics and philosophy … in order to give their children the right to study painting, poetry, music….”
